Overview
This wonderful shore excursion offers a rich cultural, historical and even mystical experience. We will visit places of interest from a Jewish perspective.
Our tour will take you from the vibrant Mediterranean old city of Acre with its old port, oriental market and underground halls, once the home of the Crusaders’ knight orders, to the mystical city of Safed (Tzfat) – the ancient Jewish center and Kabahlah capital.
Also included in the tour is a stop at the Bahai Gardens in Haifa, a breathtaking world heritage site.
Tour Description
Our tour guide and mini-bus will meet you outside the reception hall of the Haifa port at the time stated after you have booked your tour and based on your ship’s arrival. Our first stop is the top of Mount Carmel in Haifa to view the Baha’i Gardens and the Haifa Bay (take a photo of your cruise ship from the top of the mountain). It is a magnificent view of Haifa and its bay area.
Next, we drive to the old Crusader port town of Acre for a visit to the Crusader Fortress (admission extra). We will walk through the narrow passes and alleys, and arrive at the old port of Akko. During the British mandate, the Jewish prisoners of the underground movement were imprisoned in the Akko prison. During this time, there was a daring escape from the prison, which Paul Newman portrayed in the 1960s famous movie: Exodus.
This mixed Arab and Jewish city holds many secrets both above and underground. A small fisherman port today, this old city was once the fierce capital of the Crusaders and their last stronghold in the Holy Land. Later, it became an important Ottoman city and many elegant buildings and monuments were erected during this period.
Next, we will drive to Safed (Tzfat), which is considered to be one of the Four Holy Cities for the Jews that rose after the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AC and the birthplace of Kabbalah. We will explore this mystical and spiritual city, with its unique synagogues, and art galleries
We will also stop in Tiberius subject to time. We will arrive at the port in time for your departure or overnight stay.

What to Bring
Here are some basic packing tips for your day tour. If you have more specific questions, please contact us directly.

- Recommended on all tours to bring a hat, water bottle, and sunscreen.
- We recommend bringing a small travel bag to store extra clothing and personal belongings.
- We are doing quite a lot of walking, so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
